the film for this week will be the 2004 film white coats otherwise known as it's original title intern academy. The film was Directed and Written by Dave Thomas and Stars Peter Oldring, Pat Kelly and Viv Leacock. the story follows the misadventures of a group of young interns at a hospital/medical school - dealing with the pressures of ordinary life medical school and crazy bosses. the story is sort of like a comedy spoof of all the television shows that came out during this time that focused on doctors and hospitals. honestly when considering this film for viewing i didn't expect much from it, but while watching i found it better than what i expected. there are a few out there type characters that i think could have been done better but that's more of a matter of opinion.

this week's post is a little different from the rest so far i was looking over my past posts and decided to do one an animated film. this week's film is the 2010 film Batman: under the red hood.
http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMTMwNDEyMjExOF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMzU4MDU0Mw@@._V1._SY317_CR8,0,214,317_.jpg
Directed by Brandon Vietti, written by Judd Winick, and starring Bruce Greenwood, Jensen Ackles and John Di Maggio. The story is based on the 1988 Batman Comics storyline 'A Death in the Family', where readers voted via a 1-900 number to either save or kill off the second Robin, Jason Todd.In the film Batman faces the mysterious Red Hood who takes over Gotham City overnight. One part vigilante, one part criminal kingpin, Red Hood begins cleaning up Gotham with the efficiency of Batman, but for the Red Hood Killing is an option. i thought the story was great and worth the time for anyone who is a fan of the batman franchise. Infact even for people who know little to nothing about the batman storyline would be entertained by this story.

This week's film wasn't going to be this at first but now thanks to our last project i fill like this movie should be discussed. Plus it gives me a good place to start my usual rantings so I would like to follow up on what I said in my first post to this blog. this week's film is none other than the 2002 movie Drumline Directed by Charles Stone III and starring Nick Cannon, Zoe Saldana and Orlando Jones. The story is basically a comedy about a talented street drummer from Harlem who enrolls in a Southern university, expecting to lead its marching band's drumline to victory, but he soon comes to learn that talent alone isn’t enough to win. In my opinion the script and the acting isn’t bad it’s just again like most of the movies I’ve seen of nick cannon pretty basic and not really too deep. It’s not a bad film it’s just one of those films where cursing is put to a minimum, not a lot of violence, and you don’t really show too many interpersonal issues so it’s a pretty good family movie. on another note
Orlando Jones’s comments during the movie are pretty funny just saying.

This week's movie is the 2010 film cherry written and directed by Jeffrey Fine starring Kyle Gallner, Laura Allen, and Britt Robertson. Cherry is the coming of age film of seventeen year old Ivy League Freshman, Aaron Milton who gets a different kind of education when he falls for the thirty four year old Linda a former dropout who has returned to college to straighten out her life. Thestory gets more challenging when Aaron meets Linda's sarcastic 14 year-old daughter, Beth ,who quickly develops a crush on him. Cherry is a good Indie film that is anything but ordinary. the story goes through many twists and turns and you can see the progression of each character whether it be healthy progress or detrimental. I myself thought that this film was beautifully done and that alot more people should see the movie.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1053880/
The film I decided to show this week is the 2009 film Frenemey (little fish strange pond). I stumbled on this film by accident thinking at the time that it was Due Date because of how the poster looked but what I got was just about the opposite of what I expected and I never regretted picking up this film. Frenemy is the story of Mr. Jack and Sweet Stephen, who, cruise aimlessly through the streets of LA speculating about life, death, divine will and the force of power that predetermines their existence. Mr. Jack attempts to illustrate to his sidekick the delicate and natural forces of the universe.it does sounds a bit strange if you write it out like that but it is very interesting especially for people who like more psychological probing films. I was very surprised when I saw the comments on this movie because the movie is quite good. Most people were mad because they thought the movie was due date since galifianakis was on the cover and expected that type of comedy. While others were mad because of who the director of the film was (I won’t go into any greater detail with that one) but that shouldn’t really matter if the job was done right.

http://sharetv.org/movies/growing_op_2008
this week's post will be on the 2008 film "growing op" Starring Steven yaffe. "Growing Op" is a dramatic comedy/ coming of age story about a teenage boy being raised by his neo-hippie parents that run a major marijuana-growing operation in their home. the story takes many twists and turns that you will want to stay focused on the entire story.I myself found the ending to be pretty good and very unpredictable. Also for an independent film the quality of the actors is very high and the idea is portrayed very well throughout the entire film. This is again another film that I for one think deserves and should get way more praise than what it was given, because the idea, script, and actors all do a very solid job and at the same time do keep you entertained. Just to point out Most  of the marijuana plants in the film were fake just for anybody who watches this and goes "oh shit that is alot of weed" i told you ahead of time.

http://goregirl.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/how-to-be-a-serial-killer.jpg
The next film up for discussion will be the 2008 film how to be a serial killer written/directed by Luke Ricci and starring Dameon Clarke, Matthew Gray Gubler, and Laura Regan. The basic premise is a sort of mocumentary of a serial killer who decides to teach the secrets of his “satisfying” career to a video store clerk that he has decided to make his apprentice. The film is not as gorey as you would expect them to be in the situations given especially for an R rated film .I wouldn’t say this is an A-list movie but it certainly does not deserve to be written off I do admit there were some slow points but it was an enjoyable watch especially if you happen to be into the darker kind of psychologically probing films. It puts you into what can be conceived as the mindset of a serial killer and the rules that govern what makes them a serial killer. To me the film had a lot of potential and maybe wasn’t marketed right because the ratings I looked up for this film just seemed completely uncalled for and should be given another chance.

Next up is the 2009 film Mystery Team from derrick comedy this is in my opinion just a hilarious film that is worth watching.Mystery Team received its world premiere at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. It definitely succeeds as comedy and is in no way a waste of time. Mystery Team in a nutshell is basically about three childhood friends/childhood detectives who are now 18 years old but are still solving crimes like who stole Timmy’s lunchbox; that is until a small girl hired them to find out who murdered her parents and the craziness just goes on from there. This film will have you laughing throughout the entire time and the story definitely builds on itself as time goes on. I am actually a fan of derrick comedy and this movie definitely exceeded expectations for me and kept the laughs going the whole time. Of course this is not considered a family friendly film i know most people probably don't care but i figure i might as well put that in.

The next film for discussion is a little gift for everybody during this time of the semester where testing and long nights of studying are running rampant. I decided on the 2004 film the Perfect Score starring Scarlett  Johansson which didn’t really seem to do too well with ratings. The premise is basically where a group of high school seniors form a team to steal the answers to the SAT, I will admit it is a bit of a cliché topic but it is a bit interesting and ok to watch if you have some free time. The story is a bit of a feel good where everything eventually resolves itself which really isn’t my cup of tea,but I don’t know it does serve somewhat of a message so I can let it slide. The funniest character to me happened to be Roy played by Leonardo Nam. I’m not going to say this is going to be the best comedy movie ever because it did lack a bit on the laughs for a comedy but it shouldn’t be dismissed either it’s really up to the viewer to decide how they like it that’s what this blog is about.

Okay for the second film i decided to go with dave chappelle's block party. Mostly because in block party the viewer can see a different type of person that dave chappelle is besides his chappelle show persona. The film is a documentary of dave chappelle throwing a block party in brooklyn. where he hosts a concert with very inspirational artists such as Common, Mos def, Erykah badu, and many more.
throughout the course of the documentary alot of discussion between chappelle and these artists take place that you would not hear in the chappelle show and that's why i think it's worth the watch. Also i need to point out that this is not a comedy it's a documentary so any complaints like that should not come up.

Feel free to comment on the movie below.
